A riverside celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival is coming to Docklands, bringing handmade crafts, Asian food, creative workshops and lots of family-friendly fun.
The Melbourne Moon Fest Market will take over the riverside at World Trade Centre Melbourne on 26th–27th September, inviting visitors to browse 45 stalls, meet local makers and get hands-on with traditional and contemporary crafts.
Running from 12pm to 5pm each day, the two-day market is designed as a lively gathering place for families and friends to celebrate the Mid-Autumn season—and entry to the market is completely free.
Browse stalls of crafts, food and festive finds

The Melbourne Moon Fest Market will bring together local artists, designers, makers and creative brands, with 45 stalls turning the riverside precinct into a colourful showcase of crafts, culture and cuisine.
Spend some time wandering between the stalls and you’ll find plenty of reasons to stick around, from handmade crafts and unique finds to original artworks and festive treats.
Foodies are catered for, too, with Asian food, snacks and drinks adding another layer to the weekend celebration. Grab something to eat as you explore, or make an afternoon of it with friends and family while taking in the sights and sounds of the market.
The creative line-up also gives the event a distinctly hands-on feel. Alongside the stalls, visitors can discover a program of cultural workshops and see traditional crafts brought into a contemporary market setting.
Get creative with Mid-Autumn crafts

The market’s workshop program invites visitors to roll up their sleeves and get creative, with a line-up of hands-on activities inspired by traditional craft and Mid-Autumn culture.
You can make your own traditional flower lantern, piece together a mosaic coaster or create a Chinese zodiac charm to take home. There’s also the chance to try traditional lacquer fan painting, traditional hairpin making and brocade fan mirror making, alongside more intricate creative sessions featuring Song-style pearl art and mother-of-pearl jewellery.

For families and curious crafters, the workshops offer a chance to slow down and experience the festival in a more hands-on way. Instead of just wandering through the market, you can sit down, learn a new craft and leave with something you’ve made yourself—a little keepsake from the weekend.
Selected workshops require tickets, so those keen to join a particular session should book ahead. There will also be a limited number of free lantern-making spots, available on a first-come, first-served basis.
A free weekend celebration in Docklands

The Melbourne Moon Fest Market is pitched as a family-friendly celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, with activities suitable for all ages.
Organisers describe it as a chance to “spend the weekend by the riverside at World Trade Centre Melbourne and celebrate the Mid-Autumn season”, whether visitors want to explore the stalls, try something new at a workshop or simply enjoy the riverside setting.
Self-reported accessibility information is also available for visitors planning their visit. And while the market itself is free to enter with no booking required, you’ll need to secure a ticket for selected workshops.
