Puppet Mayhem at The Playground is going to be the type of mayhem we love.
When it comes to giant puppets, Melbourne’s A Blanck Canvas is one of the nation’s best. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because this is the very same team that has been behind some of Melbourne’s White Night favourites like the Messenger and the Guardian—a ten metre-long crystalline lion. Since lockdown, the crew have been hard at work creating the perfect performance hub and now that the work is done, it’s time for its grand premiere. The Playground at Seaworks Maritime Precinct in Williamstown will come alive this Saturday 15 May with a very special after-dark event that is ticking all the boxes.
The immersive experience will kick off at 6pm and will see a variety of puppet shows across the three main stages as well as roving performers, aerial performances, live music, activations and plenty more. Although there will be some adult performances taking place in the Pirate’s Tavern (and an on-site bar for anyone keen on a tipple), the night promises to be fun for all ages.
A Blanck Canvas will be joined by a plethora of other local artists like PO PO MO CO, Fresh Creative Entertainment and award-winning puppeteer and maker, Rosy Toranzo. Each will add their own special touch to the night of festivities to make for a truly electrifying atmosphere. See the full artist line-up here.
Tickets for Puppet Mayhem start at $20.
