If you loved the music in Disney films like The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Tangled, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Pocahontas and Aladdin, then chances are, you love composer and songwriter Alan Menken. For nearly 40 years, this legend has shaped entire generations with his music, songs and scores. He is one of only 21 people to achieve an EGOT, and he holds more Academy Awards than any living individual. Beyond his work in Disney films, Menken was also behind the music in Broadway favourites like Little Shop of Horrors, Newsies and Sister Act. And soon, you can see him perform in Melbourne for just one night, in A Whole New World of Alan Menken. The show will take place at the Palais Theatre on Wednesday May 6. Tickets go on sale from 10am on Thursday December 18.

A Whole New World of Alan Menken
After seasons in Japan, London and multiple cities in the United States, Alan Menken is coming for his first ever public performance in Australia. He will sit centre stage on the piano, and perform hits like A Whole New World, Colors of the Wind, Go the Distance and Beauty and the Beast.
Projected on the backdrop, you’ll see archival photos and footage that will reveal the inspiration, stories and behind-the-scenes moments that shaped his songs. The show will also provide an intimate look at his collaborations, including the late lyricist Howard Ashman.
It’s set to be an utterly nostalgic and joyful night, and is suitable for audiences aged 8 and up. After performing in Melbourne, he will continue to Sydney to perform at the Sydney Event Centre on Friday May 8. For more information, click here.
