It’s hard to believe, but the 25th anniversary of The Sims is coming up. And to celebrate, ACMI has teamed up with Electronic Arts (EA) to create a Y2K-inspired pop-up. Reconnect with the game and feel totally immersed with a nostalgic 2000s bedroom, as well as free gameplay stations, a specialist panel and more. Check out The Sims festivities at ACMI from Friday February 21 to Sunday February 23.
The Sims pop-up at ACMI
Go back to simpler times and enter a pre-teen, Y2K bedroom complete with classic Sims design elements and Easter eggs. This immersive space at ACMI was made by local creatives, Josh & Matt Design. Around the space, you’ll find blow-up couches, CD towers, fuzzy rugs and even a Woohoo Bed.
Throughout the space, you’ll also find bookable gameplay stations, where you can channel your inner child and play the newly released The Sims: Birthday Bundle.
You can also watch live broadcast sessions, streamed directly from ACMI and featuring your favourite Sims creators in action.
On Saturday February 22, there will be a specialist panel discussing the origins, cultural impact, fandom and the legacy of The Sims. Entry is free, but you’ll need to register for a ticket.
