Flagstaff Gardens will soon come alive with the sound of music and the scent of Mexican cuisine. Arriba! Melbourne Mexican Festival is a free event that’s taking place on the weekend before Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead on November 2. Celebrate Mexican heritage, folklore and culture with plenty of live music, performances and more. Of course, there will be plenty of food to try, with over 25 vendors serving up a range of street food. This fun and free festival will run from Friday October 28 to Sunday October 30.
Arriba! Melbourne Mexican Festival
This festival will feature over 25 vendors, serving up Mexican cuisine, as well as dishes from Spain, Argentina, Cuba, Colombia, Venezuela and Peru. Feast on delicious street food like salsa, tacos, enchiladas, burritos and fajitas. Pop into the Margarita Garden, and cool down Margaritas, Mojitos and tequila while listening to DJs.
Discover a selection of handcrafted goods from Mexico and Latin America, made from local manufacturers and importers. Listen and enjoy the sounds of live bands, mariachis and DJs. There will also be a Day of the Dead costume competition and parade to check out.
Meanwhile, children will have fun in the kid’s area, with activities like face painting, piñatas and paper crafts.
After the festivities are over, grown-ups can head to the Official After Party in Hardware Lane, where there will be Margarita specials, face painting, salsa, a costume competition and more. The After Party will take place on the 28th and the 29th, starting at 10pm and ending at 3am. Limited tickets for the After Party are available.
