Thinking about going overseas? Well, you can feel confident in your travels, because Australia has one of the most powerful passports in the world. The Henley Passport Index, the original and authoritative ranking of the world’s passports, has released its rankings for 2025, assessing the number of destinations that can be accessed without a prior visa. The rankings take data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), and includes 199 different passports to 227 travel destinations.
This year, Australia has held steady in sixth place, with visa-free access to 189 destinations. Joining us in 6th place are our friends from Greece.
For the first time in seven years, Japan is in second place and not in the top spot; that title goes to Singapore, which has visa-free access to 195 destinations. New Zealand has moved up a spot to number 5, and is joined by many European countries and South Korea.
