Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland by Australian Contemporary Opera Co
Be delighted by this garden production of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The show will kick off the 2022 opera season, bringing this family-friendly production from London’s Opera Holland Park to Australian shores.
This show premiered in 2013, and ran for five consecutive sell-out annual seasons in London. Expect a collection of familiar and celebrated Wonderland characters that will bring joy to both adults and children.
The show captures the book’s madcap spirit, and the music features an eclectic mix of jazz, musical and opera. The story leaps to life with a fabulous set and costume designs by award-winning UK designer Leslie Travers.
“We have a fabulous cast and team bringing this gorgeous show to Victoria for its Australian premiere,” said Artistic Director Linda Thompson. “It’s an absolute testimony to the intrepid spirit of our Australian musicians and singers, that after performing with opera companies around the world, they are so keen to jump on the outdoor opera ride with us!”
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland will run for a limited season. There will be four Yarra Park performances across two weekends in March. As it’s in Melbourne’s sporting precinct, these performances will be easy to get to with public transport.
This show will also run for a limited time in Macedon, the Yarra Valley and Mornington Peninsula, set against idyllic backdrops of beautiful gardens and historical properties.
Since these performances are outdoors, you’ll have to bring your own rug, bean bag, low chair or cushion.
“Families will love all the fun and adventure of this opera,” said Thompson.
An adult ticket will set you back $77 while a concession ticket costs $55. Meanwhile, any child aged 17 and under can see the show for just $27.50.
