Summer might be over, but there’s still plenty of fun to be found by the seaside this autumn. And soon, the Frankston Waterfront will be transformed into a sandy tableau of magical installations, thanks to the return of the Australian Sand Sculpting Championships. Watch as artists transform over 400 tonnes of sand into 18 large-scale sculptures and display features. The theme this year is The Enchanted Realm, which means you can look forward to fairytale castles and mythical creatures. See it for yourself on the Frankston foreshore from Saturday March 28 to Sunday April 26.

The Enchanted Realm at the Australian Sand Sculpting Championships in Frankston
Presented by Sandstorm Events, the championship this year will showcase 15 solo sculptures, with ten Australian artists and five international artists on the line-up.
They will work over eight days to bring their creations to life, and all sculptures will be ready for viewing prior to the official opening. Marvel at the display, then vote for your favourite in the People’s Choice Awards.
New to the event this year is a spectacular light show. Running three to four times each day, this light show will transform the sculptures into a stunning illuminated wonderland, filled with colour and music.
There will also be sculpture talks, so you can hear from the artists and learn more about the creative process, the techniques and the stories behind each display.
The whole family will have plenty to do, with an activity sheet and sand pit for the little ones, and experiences available for an extra cost, like mini golf, sand art and sand workshops.
On the opening weekend, there will be three food trucks for you to choose from. Over the Easter weekend, there will also be a Sandsational Easter Egg Hunt for the kids.
