If you’re hankering for a meal and you don’t feel like getting out of your car, or visiting your usual fast food haunts, why don’t you swing by Melbourne’s only drive-through bánh mì store? This thriving, family-run business, which launched in Maidstone just last month, is now receiving plenty of queues from foodies and hungry customers. Bánh Mì Vietnam is open daily, from 8am to 4pm on weekdays, and 9am to 4pm on weekends.

Isabella and her Vietnamese-Australian family launched this drive-through in the carpark of a wedding venue in July. Since then, they’ve served thousands of bánh mì.
“There’s nothing else like this in Melbourne,” said Isabella. “We wanted to create something new that still honours the food with grew up with – fast service, bold flavours and real Vietnamese ingredients – just with a drive-through twist.”
On the menu, you’ll find plenty of hefty bánh mì, stacked with pâté, pickled veg and meat like crackling roasted pork, BBQ char siu or BBQ chicken, inside a crispy baguette. A vegan option with either caramelised or lemongrass tofu is also available, so you don’t have to miss out. If you feel like something else, there’s also a variety of rice paper rolls, rice dishes or noodle dishes to try. Complete your lunch with some refreshing Vietnamese iced coffee.
“We wanted to show that drive-through food doesn’t have to be generic or mass-produced,” said Isabella. “It can still be real, handmade and connected to culture.”
