Bridgewater Bakehouse – vanilla slice champions
The vanilla slice at Bridgewater Bakehouse is no stranger to victory. In addition to the Uniquely Aussie Awards, this little snack has also won prestigious titles like the Great Australian Vanilla Slice Triumph.
According to Wotif, this vanilla slice contains “melt-in-your-mouth goodness” with the “perfect ratio” of custard and pastry. The vanilla custard is both creamy, fluffy and silky-smooth while the pastry is biscuit-like and, most importantly, never soggy. Their shiny fondant icing is best described as a layer of “can’t help yourself”.
Out of twelve finalists for the best vanilla slice award, five were from Victoria.
- Vanilla Slice Café in Sorrento
- The French Lettuce in Carlton
- Flinders Vanilla Slice in Cheltenham
- Cafe Bear & Scoobs in Geelong
- Bourkie’s Bakehouse in Woodend
