Are you a fan of felines? Then you’ll be happy to know that the adorable Cat Café Melbourne is reopening soon. This cosy and cuddly spot was the first cat café in Melbourne and Australia. After closing for a year-long hiatus, the furbulous café will reopen on Saturday June 1, at a new location in Carlton.
Cat Café Melbourne
This lovely café first opened in 2014, and offers a relaxing space for you to socialise with cats. As you can guess from the name, you’ll find several resident cats, and occasionally, there will be some cats available for adoption. Most of these cats were abandoned and rehomed, and the Cat Café offers a great chance for you to become aware of and appreciate rescued animals.
The café is split into two floors and the cats roam freely between both areas. There is a cat lounge on the ground floor, and a cafe lounge on the next level. There’s also a merchandise area filled with cat-themed gifts, accessories and supplies. Sip on a hot chocolate, tea, coffee or milkshake and watch these fluffy friends go about their day.
To keep the cats safe and comfortable, you can’t pick them up, but you can play with them using the toys provided. There are also treats that you can purchase to give to the cats.
Walk-ins are welcome, but bookings are strongly recommended. There are different ticketing options available, starting with a one hour session for $18.50. Other packages include things like drinks or cat treats. If you’re not sure, you can always order drinks and cat treats separately while you’re there.
