A new all-day eatery is opening just across the road from South Melbourne Market. Taking over the sites of Bibelot and Chez Dre, this new 150-seat venue will feature plenty of tempting pastries, cakes and sandwiches for a quick bite, as well as a market-focused menu for longer meals. Cheri will be run by Darling Group, the same team behind other notable Melbourne venues like The Terrace in the Royal Botanic Gardens. Cheri will open on Wednesday October 9, and run daily from 7am to 5pm.
Cheri in South Melbourne
Step into Cheri and see an assortment of handmade viennoiserie and patisserie in the cabinets. Think croissants, eclairs, Parisian flan and more, as well as both individual and family-sized tarts and cakes. You’ll also find handmade sourdough loaves, baguettes, piadinas and focaccia sandwiches.
The entire selection of pastries, cakes and bread will be baked onsite daily from 1am by the team of talented bakers and pastry chefs.
Continue beyond the cabinets and find a spot to relax with plenty of booth seating, private dining and a 50-seat outdoor courtyard.
Breakfast will be served from 8am, and feature contemporary bites like spiced polenta porridge and croissant loaf French toast. For lunch, there’s plenty of pizza to try, made from hand-stretched 72-hour fermented dough, and other delectable dishes like chicken cotoletta or ricotta gnocchi.
Unwind with a leisurely glass of wine or a cocktail from the bar, or go for a coffee, tea, juice or milkshake.
