This festive period is all about food. Yes, there are presents to give and family to see, but food is where it’s at. You might have had your fill and you might still be nursing a bloated belly, but South Yarra’s Cucinetta Italian restaurant has announced that their famous and delightfully cheesy Cacio e Pepe finished off in a Parmesan wheel is making a return from Sunday 1 January to Sunday 15 January.
That’s two whole weeks of lunch and dinners at the intimate, 29 square metre restaurant where they’ll be seeing diners pop in to savour the special cheese wheel event. Needless to say, it’s back because we, the people, asked for it.
Parmesan Cheese Wheel Pasta at Cucinetta
Although we’re losing count of how many editions we’ve seen of Cucinetta’s dreamy Parmesan wheel event, we’re not complaining in the slightest because we’re looking forward to having a really cheesy time.
For those that have been living under a rock and never once come across this delicious specialty, Fettucine Cacio e Pepe is a classic and traditional dish made with cheese and pepper that is finished in a 24-month Parmigiana Reggiano cheese wheel. And by finished off, we mean that the pasta is tossed inside the cheese wheel, and its heat combined with the starchy water melts the Parmesan until the pasta is coated in it. Just look below.
The pasta will be available from 12pm to 3pm, and 5pm until close, for two wonderful weeks to begin 2023. Due to the small nature of the space, bookings are strongly recommended.
