Baarack’s haircut saved his life, but you can save more lives by drinking wine.
Baarack, the sheep found wandering in rugged bushland north of Melbourne a couple of weeks ago, has brought worldwide attention to Edgar’s Mission, the animal farm sanctuary where his 34-kilogram matted-wool fleece caked with mud, dirt and sticks was shorn off. Thankfully, his life was saved and there was a happy ending to his rescue. (Featured image: Supplied)
However, the hard work isn’t over at Edgar’s Mission, the not-for-profit animal sanctuary near Lancefield, Victoria—about 60 kilometres north of Melbourne—and they could do with you buying wine. Really!
Since 2003, Edgar’s Mission has been promoting a humane and just world for all humans and non-humans alike. Having first started out with one piglet, the haven now currently looks after 450 rescued animals across 153 peaceable acres.
That’s a lot of land and a lot of animals to look after—many of which you can meet and read more about here—like Manuel the duck who arrived with a broken leg but now has a new lease on life or Miss Chief the baby goat who was thrown from a truck and is now friends with piglets, ducks, cows and even a kitten.
So if you heard about Baarack, why not consider raising a glass of wine from Goodwill Wine to toast the lifesaving achievements of the team at Edgar’s Mission because if you’re going to drink wine, you may as well ”drink your way to a better world.”
Among other charities and services, Goodwill Wine have teamed up with Edgar’s Mission to raise $20,000 to help them continue their mission of rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming farm animals.
All you need to do is go to their website, select Edgar’s Mission as your charity, and buy as much wine as you want. Buy for friends, buy for family, buy for yourself.
Half of all profits from Goodwill Wine go to Australian charities, volunteer and not-for-profit organisations. So far, Goodwill Wine has donated over $385,000 since its founding nearly ten years ago on the back of the Black Saturday bushfires.
If drinking wine isn’t your idea of lending a hand, there’s plenty of other ways you can help Edgar’s Mission reach their goals. You can make a donation directly to the animal sanctuary, become a best buddy, give a gift of kindness, volunteer or shop on their online store.
