Fed Square is Melbourne’s beating heart. It is our meeting place—our public square—and a home to art, culture and our biggest celebrations. It always welcomes and is continuously transforming with free, public events. This month is no different as Fed Square welcomes a series of free Candlelight concerts, where thousands of candles will flicker as the sun sets on the city and music soars through the air.
The Candlelight Concert Series is brought to us by Fed Square in partnership with Fever, the global events platform that has already transformed a number of Melbourne’s iconic and gorgeous venues into dazzling candlelit spaces. Now it’s Fed Square’s turn to twinkle in the night. And, they’re giving away free ice cream!
Fed Square’s Candlelight series of free concerts begin on the 9th of February with a performance of Queer Icons. You can look forward to songs by queer musicians Elton John, David Bowie, George Michael, ABBA and more! The show will be featuring LGBTQIA+ performers and allies, and will create a safe and inclusive atmosphere for all.
Then, celebrate Valentine’s Day with a little bit of soul on the 14th of February. Acclaimed soul performer TINO will be spreading the love with smooth and sultry renditions of soul classics like My Girl, Let’s Get It On and Can’t Help Falling In Love. The romantics among us will be treated to an enchanting evening under the stars, surrounded by twinkling candles.
The final show of the series will be Jarryd James on the 16th of February. This Queensland singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist will be wowing audiences with his incredible talent and energy on stage. James is best known for his breakaway single “Do You Remember” which has garnered more than 480 million streams and is the 4th most Shazam-ed song in Australia over the last decade! This is sure to be a performance worth seeing, and the candlelit stage just adds to the allure.
Fed Square’s Candlelight Concert Series begin at 8:pm on the dot. However, if you’re keen on getting your hands on free ice cream, then you best arrive a little earlier as it will be available from Cups n Cones from 7:30pm. Get in quick because it’s only free for the first 150 people!
