Disco is making a huge comeback in glitter-soaked style with Gimme Gimme Disco in Melbourne, about to hit the dance floor of Ms Collins for one night only. This throwback celebration of the ’70s and ’80s is bringing feel-good energy, rotating disco balls and defining hits from ABBA, The Bee Gees, Donna Summer, Diana Ross and every floor-filling superstar in between. But, be warned, like with all concerts, the longer you leave it, the higher the tickets will go up in price. So, do not sleep on this night of sparkles, boogies, and your favourite disco anthems.
What is Gimme Gimme Disco?
Gimme Gimme Disco is an electrifying dance party that honours some of the greatest songs of the genre. Think ABBA’s catchy tunes, Donna Summer’s era-defining hits, Cher’s late-’70s disco-leaning albums, and so many more. Led by a well-versed DJ who’ll be spinning hit after hit for two and a half hours straight.

Technically, there is no strict dress code so you can come in whatever you feel appropriate. But if you consider yourself a real dancing queen, you’ll naturally need to don your coolest wide-legged trousers, your favourite sequin dress, or any other fashionable disco attire. Open to everyone aged 18 and over, this event has already proved a hit with big groups of friends and bachelorette parties alike across the world. Doors usually open 30 minutes prior, leaving time to arrive, grab drinks and find your spot on the dance floor. Some are Sunset Editions, starting in the afternoon, and finishing before its midnight, while others start later for the night owls — depends what time your boogie gets going.
From ABBA to Bee Gees: The Sound of Disco
Originating from a mix of funk, soul, and R&B music in the late ’60s, disco revolutionised the nightclub scene with groovy synthesizers, upbeat rhythms and the “four-on-the-floor” disco drum beat pioneered by Earl Young. And although by the late ’70s anti‑disco sentiment grew in the US, disco is far from dead and continues to be loved by millions of people worldwide.
To this day, we can’t help but dance to “I Feel Love” or any song for that matter by Donna Summer, do our best John Travolta impression dancing in Saturday Night Fever whenever we hear “Stayin’ Alive”, or belt out every word of “Dancing Queen” at the top of your lungs whenever it’s played at bars. It’s all about having a good time—sparkle, shine, and get down!
If you’re looking for something unforgettable, big laughs and just the right amount of nostalgic, Gimme Gimme Disco is coming to Ms Collins.
The event starts at 6:00pm but doors will open 30 minutes in advance. Late entry will be permitted however, best to come on time to not miss any disco hit. The venue is wheelchair accessible and it serves drinks and bar-style bites.
