Melbourne’s Fed Square is about to get a fresh new local, with Good Nature Hotel opening its doors tomorrow, 4th June 2026, just in time for the King’s Birthday long weekend crowds.
Taking over the high-profile former Beer Deluxe site, the venue is pitching itself as an all-weather pub and beer garden designed for the rhythms of the city—ranging from last-minute CBD lunches to pre-footy meetups and long, lingering weekend sessions.
Positioned along one of Melbourne’s busiest cultural corridors, it lands as AFL fans prepare to stream toward the MCG for Big Freeze and the long weekend blockbuster. Rather than reinventing the wheel, Good Nature leans into what Melbourne does best, which is a relaxed pub culture with a polished edge.
The redesign softens Federation Square’s angular architecture with greenery, warm timber, stone finishes and layered lighting, creating a space that feels more garden retreat than concrete plaza.
Built for Melbourne weather

At the centre of the venue is its upgraded beer garden, now fitted with a permanent weatherproof structure, retractable awning and heating, showing that they truly understand Melbourne’s unpredictable seasons. It’s designed to work year-round, whether that’s a sunny afternoon spritz or a mid-winter pint under cover.
Large screens and upgraded AV also position the space as a reliable hub for live sport, a key drawcard given its proximity to the MCG.

Inside, the ground floor operates as the main pub space, while an airy atrium caters to more relaxed dining and functions. Upstairs, the Grove Bar & Terrace expands the brief with a family-friendly focus—including a children’s play area that connects right to the seating—reflecting a broader shift in Melbourne pubs toward more inclusive, multi-use venues.
“Good Nature is about creating a place where people can come together, whether it’s for a casual lunch, after-work drinks, live sport, family outing or weekend celebration,” venue manager Ebony King said.
New pub dining in Fed Square

On the menu, it’s a modern take on pub classics with a few elevated touches. Here, diners can browse through staples like crispy parmas and fish and chips alongside more contemporary plates such as spanner crab and prawn spaghetti with chilli butter, sticky soy pork ribs and char-grilled lamb skewers.
Events at Good Nature lean heavily into atmosphere, with DJs, live musicians and acoustic sets scheduled across the week, plus a $38 Sunday roast and free family-friendly entertainment from 12pm-3pm on weekends. Major sporting events—including State of Origin and international fixtures—are also set to feature prominently on the venue’s screens.

The launch reflects a broader evolution of Federation Square, which has been expanding its food and hospitality offering alongside its cultural programming. With winter events and footy crowds ramping up, Good Nature Hotel is positioning itself as somewhere to settle in, warm up and watch the city move around you.
The Good Nature Hotel opens tomorrow at Federation Square, Flinders Street.
