The annual Herb and Chilli festival is coming back to Wandin. Take a drive out to the Yarra Valley and discover over 80 different stallholders, as well as cooking demonstrations, entertainment and kid’s activities. This festival will run on March 19 and 20. Will you be able to handle the heat?
Herb and Chilli Festival
Ever since it started in 2012, passionate growers and chilli enthusiasts have come together to celebrate the many herb and chilli varieties. And since the festival was cancelled last year, the stallholders are coming in hot! There will be over 80 stalls to explore, with dishes from Mexico, Turkey, India, South America and more. Expect mouth-watering chill, hand-made ice cream, interesting cakes and more.
If you need some liquids to help you stay cool, there will be local wines, ales, beer, juices and coffee to try. Of course, if you’d like to keep things spicy, there will be some interesting creations, like chilli beer, to discover.
Wander down Hot Sauce Alley and see if you can beat the heat. Explore a wide range of hot sauce, from the mild to the deadly, as well as local flavours and imported creations. After that, step into the International Food Court and enjoy dishes from around the world.
Then, check out the Competition Stage and try some fiery challenges, or watch other people give it a go.
If you’d like to improve your cooking, head to the Cooking Stage and check out some amazing chefs as they create their favourite dishes.
At the Entertainment Stage, you’ll see Peruvian Folkloric dancers, listen to Andean music, blues, jazz, country and pop, as well as Psycho Zydeco, who will bring their festive mix of Cajun, blues and funk to the stage.
Meanwhile, the KidZone will have plenty of fun things to keep the children occupied, including a jumping castle, pony rides, face painting and petting zoo.
Everyone at the festival will receive a free Herb and Chilli Festival book and program, as well as an online herb and chilli growing e-book. You’ll also receive a free plant. If you’d like to take home more, there will be over 40 varieties of chillies and heaps of herbs for sale.
