You Can Still Have High Tea During Lockdown

Stay home, stay fancy.

Yes, Melbourne is in lockdown again, but that doesn’t mean we can’t indulge ourselves! Fill the void, and your stomachs, with some seriously delicious treats. Dress up at home, feel fancy and enjoy a high tea in the comfort of your home. These high tea salons are able to do pickup or delivery, depending on your location. Here is our list of places for you to have high tea during lockdown.

1. The High Tea Mistress

This Hawthorn team are absolute pros. You can choose from a range of different packages depending on your mood. They have a standard high tea package, a scone snack pack, and even a Master’s Tea for something a bit more butch. The High Tea Mistress delivers seven days a week between 10am and 4pm.

Delivery is available to all of Metropolitan Melbourne, as well as the Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula and Geelong.

2. The Westin Melbourne

The Westin has a range of high tea hampers that are available for click and collect or delivery through Providoor. Enjoy four tiers of sweet and savoury treats. They have different packages for different sized groups, including a hamper for the little ones! The only thing you need to do to prepare is heat up your oven so that you get some toasty warm scones.

Click and collect is available Wednesdays to Saturdays from 4pm to 8:30pm at 205 Collins Street, Melbourne, 3000. Same day pick up is available as well. Otherwise, get your treats delivered through Providoor from Wednesday to Sunday.

3. Mary Eats Cake

With tea houses based in Brunswick and Montrose, the team at Mary Eats Cake prides themselves on their sense of urban sophistication. When you can’t dine in their tea rooms, you can simply go to their online store, where they have a variety of different boxes available for purchase. As well as high tea boxes, they also have packages offering pies, fruit and cheese. You can pick up your order or get it delivered between Wednesday and Sunday.

Delivery is an option if you live within 35km by road of either their Brunswick or Montrose stores, although 24-hour notice is required for all orders.

4. Collins Coffee House

High tea for two? That’s easy to do thanks to Collins Coffee House. Inside their box, you’ll find 12 handcrafted goodies such as scones, cakes and quiches. Delivery is available seven days a week. All deliveries are scheduled to arrive before 1pm. Order 24 hours beforehand to get your high tea fix!

5. LuxBite

LuxBite is a delightful Asian dessert shop in South Yarra. They have curated a Signature Tea Set so that you can try nine of their favourite cakes and macarons in one go. If you’d like to pair it with some pastry, order their box of Macau’s Famous Portuguese Style Egg Tarts. These tarts are buttery, puff pastry goodness. LuxBite is currently open for pick up, takeaway and delivery.

You can get these treats to your door if you live within a 22km radius of their store. Order before 4pm for next-day delivery.

6. The Hatter & The Hare

The Hatter & The Hare is a café that is inspired by the whimsical world of Alice in Wonderland. Located in Bayswater, they have a wide variety of desserts and pastries on offer for takeaway. They have high tea sets for two that are available for pick up on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays between 11am and 3pm. Their high tea sets are only available for pick up, but they have a range of other sweet treats that can be delivered if you live within 25 km of their store.

7. The Dessert Atelier

So that was the east of Melbourne, but how about the west? The Dessert Atelier is an online store based in Sunshine North. They offer a wide selection of dessert boxes to choose from, featuring yummy treats like macarons, chocolates and cupcakes. If you’re feeling thirsty, some boxes come with a little bottle of alcohol, otherwise, you can add some bubbly to your final purchase. They deliver to most of Greater Melbourne, with delivery being free if you live within 10km of the CBD. You can receive a box between Monday and Friday.
