Gather your Viking family for a quest and feel like you’ve flown to the exciting isle of Berk. Melbourne Zoo is launching an adventure trail inspired by How to Train Your Dragon. Meet Toothless and other cool characters, test your skills on the training ground and more. This experience is coming to the zoo for the school holidays, from September 20 to October 5.
How to Train Your Dragon at Melbourne Zoo
Head to the Carousel Park and follow the trail for a fun scavenger hunt. Solve the clues, fulfil your destiny and collect your prize. Zoos Victoria members can also enter a competition for the chance to win a How to Train Your Dragon prize pack. You’ll also find a Viking Training Ground, where you can do cool challenges.

Don’t miss your favourite dragon Toothless, a massive and adorable animatronic. Hiccup and other beloved characters from the film will make an appearance too.
Meanwhile, younger people aged 12 to 18 can also join in on the fun, with a special Youth Movie Night on Thursday October 2. The Zoo will screen the new live-action How to Train Your Dragon, and no parents or pesky younger siblings are allowed! This event will include after-hours animal viewing, special keeper talks and free carousel rides. The movie night is $25 for members, and $35 for non-members. Learn more about it here.
There’s no extra cost or ticket needed to see the How to Train Your Dragon area at Melbourne Zoo. You can check it out from 10am to 4pm each day of the school holidays. Children under 16 can enter the zoo for free on school holidays, and non-member adults will need to purchase a $54.50 entry ticket. Find out more.
