The massive LED moviegoing experience, HOYTS APEX, has arrived at Melbourne Central. At over 21 metres wide, and 9 metres tall, this supersized screen is powered by over 17 million pixels. Instead of the more traditional projection, the screen uses LED technology to deliver higher brightness, deeper blacks and sharper contrast. This new experience comes to Melbourne fresh after the debut of HOYTS APEX in Karrinyup.

HOYTS APEX
This cool new screen offers you a new way to enjoy the magic of cinema. The screen is curved, enhancing your sense of immersion, and reducing edge distortion. With a 160° wide viewing angle, you’ll get a good view no matter where you are in the auditorium.
The microperforated LED panels are as thin as 3mm, and with a fully acoustically transparent LED display, sound is able to pass directly through the screen, aligning perfectly with the visuals to create a seamless experience. Speaking of sound, it also comes with Dolby Atmos integration, so you’ll feel like you’re really in the scene as you hear whooshes and booms all around you.
HOYTS APEX is also designed for future experiences, such as live events.
This experience is now available to try at Melbourne Central, showing The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Michael. It will also screen Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu when it comes out later this month. For session times or more information, click here.
