The Jonas Brothers will headline the entertainment at the NFL’s first-ever regular-season game in Australia, performing at the Melbourne Cricket Ground when the San Francisco 49ers take on the Los Angeles Rams on Friday, 11th September.
The NFL announced the news overnight on Wednesday, 12th August, confirming Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas as the first act in a new international halftime series spanning seven countries and four continents.
The game will stream live on Netflix in Australia from 10.35am AEST, with the Jonas Brothers taking the stage during the break.
“We couldn’t be more excited to perform at halftime during the NFL’s first-ever regular season game in Australia,” the band said. “Playing at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground in front of such passionate Australian fans is an incredible honour. We can’t wait to be part of this historic moment and celebrate with everyone in the stadium and watching around the world.”
Cheer to the tunes of the Jonas Brothers
The NFL has yet to announce the setlist, leaving the band’s MCG performance details under wraps for now. That could mean tracks such as Burnin’ Up and Sucker, alongside songs from their more recent catalogue. The band’s latest album, Greetings From Your Hometown, arrived in August 2025.
Supporting acts across the run include Kita Alexander and Peking Duk on Thursday 10th September, followed by Public Figures, Grinspoon and Hot Dub Time Machine on Friday 11th September. Sneaky Sound System will also join the lineup on Saturday 12th September.
The Jonas Brothers have sold more than 20 million albums, scored 26 Billboard Hot 100 hits and earned two Grammy Award nominations. They have also landed three consecutive No. 1 debuts on the Billboard 200 and recently received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
And they’re certainly no strangers to a comeback. Nick, Joe and Kevin are also returning as fictional band Connect 3 for Camp Rock 3, which premieres on Disney Channel on 13th August and arrives on Disney+ the following day.
The trio will then revive their 2008 Burnin’ Up Tour for three shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden on 20th, 21st and 22nd August, before taking the stage at the MCG in Melbourne.
The NFL is going all-in on its Melbourne debut
The Jonas Brothers’ performance will kick off a record seven American Express-presented halftime shows across the NFL’s 2026 International Games.
The league plans to stage international games across seven countries and four continents this season, making 2026 its biggest global schedule yet. The remaining halftime artists will be announced in the coming weeks.
Tim Tubito, the NFL’s senior director of global game presentation and entertainment, said the Melbourne game represents a major moment for the league. “Bringing the first-ever NFL regular season game to Australia is a landmark moment for the league, and we are committed to creating an entertainment experience that reflects the scale and significance of the occasion,” he said.
“The Jonas Brothers are global entertainers whose music connects across generations, making them the ideal artists to help us celebrate this historic game in Melbourne.”
At the same time, the NFL game will arrive during an already packed weekend on Melbourne’s sporting calendar. The NFL’s 49ers-Rams clash falls during the AFL finals series, with the MCG hosting the American football spectacle while the city remains deep in its traditional footy season.
Victorian Minister for Major Events Anthony Carbines said the game would put Melbourne in front of an enormous international audience. “Melbourne will showcase the very best Victoria has to offer to tens of millions of viewers around the world,” he said. “Epic events like the NFL cement Victoria as the sporting and cultural capital of Australia, and support thousands of jobs across the state.”
For one morning in September, the MCG will have two very different kinds of American imports: NFL football and the Jonas Brothers.
