After almost two decades of late-night drinks, packed dancefloors and Chapel Street debauchery, one of Windsor’s most recognisable nightlife institutions is preparing for a major transformation.
Lucky Coq will become Lucky’s, with Morris Hospitality set to reimagine the landmark corner of Chapel and High Streets as a restaurant, bar and music venue. The new-look venue will open in late spring 2026, bringing a fresh identity to a corner that has shaped generations of Melbourne nights out.
Lucky’s will take the familiar Chapel Street institution in a new direction, combining shareable plates, a considered drinks offering and curated music that builds as the evening unfolds.
From dinner dates to late-night dancefloors

Lucky’s will bring shareable food, drinks and curated music together in a venue designed to evolve as the night unfolds. Guests might arrive at 6pm for dinner, linger over drinks and find themselves still there at midnight as DJs take over.
The revamped spot aims to bridge the gap between neighbourhood restaurant and late-night destination, giving guests a reason to settle in long after dinner ends.
A Chapel Street icon gets a new identity

For almost 20 years, Lucky Coq has been a fixture of Chapel Street nightlife, synonymous with late-night drinks, packed dancefloors and nights that stretch well beyond the original plan. Its transformation marks a significant new chapter for the landmark Windsor corner, but Morris Hospitality says the goal isn’t simply to recreate the past.
“Melburnians know this corner and so many people have their own Lucky Coq story. It has been part of Chapel Street nightlife for almost 20 years, so we wanted to acknowledge that history without simply recreating it,” said Grace Dorman, Morris Hospitality’s head of marketing and sales.
Instead, Lucky’s will aim to capture the energy of a big night out while offering the familiarity of a neighbourhood local. “We want it to have the energy of a great night out, but also the familiarity and accessibility of a great local—somewhere you can come back to again and again,” Dorman said.
Organisers will reveal the full food offering, drinks list and music program in the coming weeks.
Lucky’s is slated to open in late spring 2026 at 179 Chapel Street, Windsor, on the corner of Chapel and High Streets.
