Vegans, vegetarians and plant-lovers have had a rough time at McDonald’s since they pulled the McVeggie burger from the menu. But now, they can finally rejoice, because Macca’s has brought the long-awaited McPlant burger to Australian shores. And they’ve chosen to run the trial right here in Victoria. Find this new, plant-based burger in 270 stores across the state, via the MyMacca’s app and McDelivery, from now until Tuesday November 1.
McPlant burger at Macca’s
This new burger was co-developed with Beyond Meat. It’s made with a plant-based patty, made from peas, rice, potatoes and beetroot. Find this juicy patty in a sesame seed bun, along with tomato, lettuce, pickles, onions, mayonnaise-style sauce, tomato sauce, mustard and a slice of American cheese.
Vegans, you’ll have to customise your burger and ask for no mayo or cheese in order to make this burger fully plant-based. Macca’s has also noted that the burger will be cooked on the same grill as meat-based products and eggs.
This trial will help Macca’s learn more about demand for the McPlant, and how this burger will impact restaurant kitchen operations. This in turn will inform future menu decisions. So, if you’d like to go meat-free, you’ll definitely want to sink your teeth into this burger before the trial ends.
