SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium has always invited its visitors, both young and mature, into a realm of wonder. For many, it’s a place tied to childhood memories of watching stingrays and sharks glide in glowing tanks. Besides the usual digital experiences and the 2.2 million-litre Oceanarium, the popular Melbourne attraction welcomes live classical music concerts held deep within its aquatic world.
Music under the Sea
Inspired by the movie scores that shaped our imagination, these concerts are sure to whisk you away to enchanted forests, glacier-like landscapes and kingdoms under the sea. These films taught us valuable lessons on love, friendship, loss and hope, and often convey comforting messages of the triumph of good over evil. You can see the program here.
Dates, string quartet and stage
Each month, two consecutive performances are held within SEA LIFE’s spectacular halls. Led by the talented Invictus Quartet made up of Rebecca Wang and Nyssa Sanguansri on violin, Jin Tong Long on viola and Annika Kenner on cello, these classical tributes beautifully blend cinematic emotion with the tranquility of the underwater world.
Home to over 10,000 aquatic creatures, SEA LIFE Aquarium in Melbourne creates the perfect backdrop for listening to compositions that echo the spirit of adventure and fantasy. Both the stage and the tunnel leading up to it will be adorned with candles, adding extra magic to the evening. This candlelit tribute to magical movie soundtracks is nostalgia, wonder and timeless melodies, all wrapped in one live music adventure.
Doors open 45 minutes prior to the start time so guests can appreciate the accompanying marine animals floating around the ocean tank.
