Much to our delight, Maho Magic Bar is officially back in Melbourne – just two years after a very successful run in 2023. The Japanese magic bar is open and will be taking up residency in Spiegel Haus until February 15, 2026!
What is Maho Magic Bar?
If you’re not familiar with the concept, prepare to feel as though you’ve been transported to a neon-lit Tokyo night full of magic and mischief. Set in an intimate space within the two-level Spiegel Haus precinct, take a seat and watch the magic unfold over a 60-minute show. Audience interaction is encouraged, as the magicians rotate between tables while performing tricks and illusions. Japan’s magic traditions date back to the Edo period, with these modern magicians adding contemporary twists to their performances. All of the magic unfolds against a neon-lit background, with the entire bar designed to play homage to Japan.

What happens at a Maho Magic Bar show?
The show is a combination of audience favourite tricks from the 2023 run as well as a brand-new repertoire of jaw-dropping sleight-of-hand. For audience members who have attended before, expect to find plenty of new additions alongside the magic you know and love from last time. As for the drinks, expect plenty of Japanese spirits and Japanese-inspired cocktails, alongside beer, wine and non-alcoholic options with attendees welcome to order drinks throughout the show to be delivered straight to their table.
