We love a good market, especially ones devoted to food! And there’s a tasty Malaysian market running in Melbourne for a limited time. At the Malaysian Night Market (Pasar Malam), you can expect about 20 vendors, serving up delicious dishes, desserts and drinks, such as nasi lemak, chicken satay and keria gula melaka. Find it at Queensbridge Square in Southbank on weekends from now until Sunday, August 9.
Malaysian Night Market (Pasar Malam)
Walk along the Yarra River and follow the smell of smoke to this bustling, open-air street food market. Check out the different vendors, and feast on authentic flavours. Think beef rendang, roti jala, nasi kerabu, char kway teow, crispy fried chicken and more. You’ll also find sweets, like an assortment of kuih muih, as well as tanghulu, waffles and coin cheese. In case you get thirsty, some stalls will also have fun drinks like mocktails.
This market is scheduled to run from 3pm to 10pm, but if you’re keen to try everything, it’s best to arrive earlier, as some vendors can sell out.
