If you’re having a ruff week, this news should cheer you up. The Dog Lovers Festival is coming back to town for its 10th year. This massive, dog-dedicated event will run for two days, with live performances from talented pups, educational talks, adoption experts, petting zones and much, much more. This puppy paradise is taking over Melbourne Showgrounds on Saturday October 26 and Sunday October 27. The festival will run each day from 9:30am to 5pm.

Whether you’re a dog owner, or a future paw-rent, there’s something for everyone at the Dog Lovers Festival. Find all sorts of ways to spoil your furbaby with products like accessories and treats, or learn more about adopting with the help of rescue shelters and adoption groups.
“I am thrilled to celebrate out 10th birthday with a move to the Melbourne Showgrounds,” said festival founder Jason Humphris. “Expanding to this venue feels like the perfect next step as we continue to grow, and with a new festival line-up of doggie entertainment, education zones and talks from Aussie pet experts.”
New and expanded things to look forward to

Watch a parade of Australia’s most followed pups on social media in the DOGWALK. See fur-shion models, dancing dogs, rescue dogs and more on the runway. Then, keep a lookout for Australia’s Best Doppelganger, and laugh at this competition that’s searching for the best human-dog twins.
Mini dogs under 30cm will be sure to melt your heart in the Mini Dog Races. See them tackle 15cm jumps in this hilarious race. For even more active pooches, check out Dog Parkour, and watch them tackle challenges and obstacles.
Meet dogs
Cosy up with adorable pups in the Lyka Pat-A-Pooch zone. Interact with litters of dogs of all shapes and sizes in this popular experience.
Head to the Breed Showcase and learn about popular and lesser-known types of dogs from leading DOGS Victoria breeders. Cuddle up with a wide range of dogs, while finding out more about their traits and personalities. There will also be daily educational sessions to help you learn more.
Then, check out the Adoption Zone and explore dozens of adoption groups and rescue shelters. Learn about responsible dog ownership and the adoption process. Most of the exhibitors will bring dogs that are available for adoption. While you can’t adopt a dog at the festival, you will receive plenty of information and contact details to help you think about it and begin the adoption process. Since 2013, the festival has helped over 2,500 dogs find their forever homes.
Other activities
When you’re not watching the cool dog demonstrations, go shopping and stock up on products. Find accessories, food, treats, toys, dog friendly accommodation and more, as well as new products and festival specials. Keep your little ones entertained with face painting, and recharge with the help of food trucks, cafes and a bar.
