Melbourne Fringe Festival is taking over the city and suburbs with over 500 events this spring. Back for its 43rd year, you’ll see Melbourne’s beaches, markets, theatres and more transformed into vibrant hubs of creativity. Look forward to a curated program that pushes the boundaries with music, dance, cabaret and more. The festival will run from Tuesday September 30 to Sunday October 19.
Melbourne Fringe Festival 2025
Highlights include:
- Fiasco: A Burke & Wills Musical – this live concert from Sammy J is a satirical retelling of the ill-fated Burke & Wills expedition. Sammy will be backed by a five-piece band playing all the roles and instruments.

- Fringe Flavours Night Market – Visit Queen Victoria Market on Wednesday nights and see free Fringe performances on a pop-up stage. Look forward to circus, cabaret, comedy and more, as well as roving performances. While you’re there, treat yourself to some food and drink from one of the market stalls.
- Decadence: 10 Years of Yummy – The cabaret crew at YUMMY are celebrating ten years with transformative drag, circus and burlesque in a large-scale, 75 minute spectacle.
- The Lucky Country – this original musical from Sonya Suares (Sunday in the Park with George) and Vidya Makan (Hamilton, SIX) explores what it means to be Australian.
- Marie’s Crisis – the beloved New York basement piano bar is popping up in Melbourne. Sip cocktails, listen to showtunes and feel like you’re right there on Broadway.
- The Break – on the sands of Williamstown beach, you’ll see contemporary dancers move with the hypnotic rhythm of the waves.
That’s just scratching the surface of all the weird and wonderful things you can look forward to at Melbourne Fringe Festival. There’s something for everyone to enjoy, and you can check out the full program here.
