Victoria the T. Rex at Melbourne Museum
66 million years after first roaming the Earth, Victoria the T. Rex is coming to Melbourne. The skeleton spans over 12 metres in length, is 3.6 metres tall and is made of 199 bones. It was discovered in South Dakota in 2013, then taken to Dino Lab in Victoria, British Columbia to be studied and restored.
The fossil will be the focal feature of the upcoming exhibition. Journey to the Cretaceous period and experience the dinosaur’s natural habitat with multisensory installations and immersive digital environments. After seeing the T. Rex, don’t miss Horridus the Triceratops, who is permanently on display at the museum.
“Victoria the T. Rex will see visitors from near and far enthralled by this real-life wonder alongside another marvel from the Cretaceous: the world’s most complete Triceratops fossil, Horridus,” said Lynley Crosswell, CEO and Director of Museums Victoria. “Melbourne Museum will be the only place on Earth where, for a limited time, visitors can come face-to-face with two of the biggest and best real dinosaurs who once walked the planet.”
The T. Rex will be on display from June 28 to October 20.
