The beloved Moonlight Cinema has delighted many a movie buff over the hot summer months. And even though summer is coming to a close, they’re still bringing the heat for their final month in March. Brush off your picnic blankets, breathe in the balmy evening air and enjoy the last month of movie magic. This time, they’re screening Oscar contenders, Hollywood blockbusters and beloved classics. In Melbourne, Moonlight Cinema is on from now until Sunday March 26.
Moonlight Cinema Program
After screening plenty of romantic films in February, Moonlight Cinema will get you ready for the Oscars by playing Academy Award nominated films. Think Best Picture contenders like Everything Everywhere All at Once, Tár, Triangle of Sadness, Top Gun: Maverick, Avatar: The Way of Water and The Banshees of Inisherin, as well as Brendon Fraser’s Best Actor nominated performance in The Whale.
Enjoy preview screenings of Scream VI and Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves. Then, check out newer Hollywood hits like Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, Magic Mike’s Last Dance and Cocaine Bear.
If you’re after something more familiar, there’s feel-good flicks like Easy A, The Proposal, The Princess Bride, The Parent Trap and Mean Girls to enjoy.
How should I prepare?
Pack up a picnic rug or a bean bag and sprawl across the lawn for a perfect night at the movies. Avoid any pesky bugs by wearing insect repellent. Of course, you’re welcome to BYO your own food and drink, including alcohol.
However, if you forget to bring snacks, there will be a range of food and drink to purchase from food trucks on-site. There will also be a licenced bar.
Choose from a range of ticketing options to customise your viewing experience, from general admission with a picnic rug, to bean beds with waited service.
This is a dog-friendly experience for all locations apart from Perth, so you’re welcome to bring your pooch for company.
