The beloved Moonlight Cinema is coming back to Melbourne for its 30th summer season. Brush off your picnic blankets, breathe in the balmy night air, and look forward to box office blockbusters and family favourites. This outdoor cinema event is playing at Central Lawn in Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens from Wednesday December 3 to Sunday April 5.

Moonlight Cinema
30th Birthday Celebrations
Moonlight Cinema first opened with a screening of Pulp Fiction in 1995, and since then, over 5 million people around the country have taken part in this summer tradition. To celebrate this incredible milestone, audiences are invited to vote for their nostalgic film favourites, and the top titles will be screened as part of The People’s Program from January to March.
Everyone who votes will receive a 30 per cent discount to General Admission tickets to The People’s Program sessions, as well as entry into the draw to win a Double Season Pass and other prizes. Voting is now open.

Program
For its first month, get ready for the festive season with two weeks of beloved holiday films, like Elf, Love Actually, The Holiday, Home Alone, The Polar Express and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Look forward to summer blockbusters and new releases, like Wicked: For Good, a special preview screening of Eternity and Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere. Families will have plenty of fun with Zootopia 2 and Moana 2.
See their full Melbourne program here.
What else can you look forward to?
Each Moonlight Cinema location will have their own kitchens, a licensed bar, on-site activations and bean bags. Dogs are welcome to come along, and you can make your furry friend feel at home by hiring a bean bag for them, as well as purchasing treats for them.
Pamper yourself with Singapore Airlines Gold Grass for express entry and great views. Order food and drink via QR code and get them delivered straight to your bean bed.
If you love ice cream, opt for the Connoisseur Lounge. Receive a Connoisseur Gourmet Ice Cream and settle in to a bean bed in a reserved area.

How should I prepare?
If you’re not hiring a bean bag, you’re welcome to pack your own picnic rug and sprawl out across the lawn for a perfect night at the movies. Avoid any pesky bugs by wearing insect repellent, and bring a blanket or wear layers to keep you warm. Of course, you’re welcome to BYO your own food and drink, including alcohol.
However, if you forget to bring snacks, there will be a small range of food and drink to purchase on-site.
