Driving down the Mornington Peninsula? As you travel along the coast, the salty air and rhythmic sound of waves means that you have officially left the city behind. And if you’re feeling hungry, you should dine somewhere that matches the surrounding scenery. One new contender is ONDA, a Mediterranean restaurant built right over the water, and located in the new Sorrento Ferry Terminal. Perfect for long lunches and lazy drinks, this restaurant is certainly worth a visit when you’re in the area. ONDA in Sorrento is open daily, for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
ONDA in Sorrento
Take in unobstructed views of Port Phillip Bay while dining at ONDA. This 150-seat restaurant fits 100 guests inside, and 50 out on the deck.
On the menu, you’ll find plenty of Mediterranean flavours, including wood-fired pizzas, fresh seafood, snacks and shareable smaller plates. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, there’s also a small selection of desserts, like a brown butter chocolate tart. Pair your meal with a glass of wine from the Mornington or Bellarine Peninsula. Linger a little longer, feel the ocean breeze and watch the colours of the water shift at sunset.

“Dining directly on the water changes everything,” said Executive Chef Mike Jaques. “You can hear the bay and you can see the movement beneath you. ONDA is about quality local and seasonal produce, in a truly unmatched space.”
This restaurant is open for visitors, whether or not you’re hopping on the ferry to Queenscliff. It’s open daily from 7:30am to late, with last orders at 8pm. Learn more about it here.
