Paramount+ is the latest streaming service to hit Australia.
When you’ve been in lockdown as long as we have, you can never really watch too much TV. If you’ve completely exhausted your Netflix and Stan titles, we’ve got some news for you. A new streaming service, Paramount+, has come to town and it’s bringing with it dozens of exciting shows and movies.
What is Paramount+?
Owned by US media giant ViacomCBS, Paramount Plus is the latest streaming service to launch in Australia. The new service will be giving tough competition to streaming giants Netflix and Amazon Prime and homegrown services like Binge and Stan.
You can see the official announcement below.
The USP of Paramount+ lies in its extensive library of Paramount Pictures along with CBS, MTV, BET Comedy Central, Showtime, the Smithsonian Channel, Nickelodeon and Sony Pictures Television. So you can expect some truly exciting content to grace your television screens right from classics like The Godfather and Indiana Jones to fan favourites like the Dark Knight trilogy and Lord of the Rings.
Paramount+ Australia Price
A huge reason Paramount+ has an edge over its competitors: it’s cheaper. Priced at $8.99 per month, the only streaming service with a cheaper price is Amazon Prime at $6.99.
You will also be privy to a number of Paramount Pictures’ original content along with some Australian originals. Some titles to look forward to include action thriller Infinite starring Mark Wahlberg, the Nancy Drew TV series and Two Weeks To Live starring Maisie Williams among others.
There is also good news for parents who’ve reached their wits end trying to keep their kids entertained in lockdown. Paramount is bringing heaps of new Nickelodeon cartoons including SpongeBob Squarepants and Rugrats.
Similar to the Disney+ model, the service will also feature its theatrical releases from Paramount Pictures if you prefer to watch your movies from the comfort of home.
