Local icons Puffing Billy Railway and Four Pillars Gin have joined forces to create a fun new experience. Hop aboard the beloved heritage train, and journey through the Dandenong Ranges. Then, enjoy a few hours of gin tasting, cocktail making, live music and more! This event will take place on Saturday April 5.
Steam & Spirits by Puffing Billy Railway and Four Pillars Gin
This event will take place at the Lakeside Visitor Centre, and you can choose to arrive by car or by taking the steam train. If you’re taking the train, your journey will begin at 6:30pm from Belgrave. Ride through the forest, dangle your legs from the carriage sill and take in gorgeous views of trestle bridges and towering mountain ash trees. This trip takes one hour to complete.
Once you arrive at Lakeside Station, relax with a two hour stopover. Sip your way through gin tastings, and learn how to make your own signature drink with a cocktail-making presentation. Experts will guide you through the process, and you’ll get to try two sample cocktails. You’ll also meet guest speakers from the distillery, and learn how they create the perfect gin.
If you’re hungry, the Lakeside Visitor Centre Railway Cafe will be serving up a gin-inspired menu. Think scones with gin marmalade, burgers with chips and gin pickles, gin-infused salmon bagels and more. If you’re taking the train, you can also pre-order a gin-inspired grazing box to nibble on. There will be live music throughout the event, as well as more fun things to do like lawn games and a scavenger hunt.
Each ticket holder will receive a tote bag, filled with discounts and offers. There will also be a Four Pillars Pop-Up Shop for you to check out.
When it’s all over, hop back on the train and enjoy a relaxing journey back to Belgrave.
If you’re taking the train, tickets are $100. Meanwhile, if you’re rocking up at Lakeside on your own, tickets are just $50, and there’s two session times to choose from. Check it out from 4:30pm to 7pm, or 7pm to 9:30pm. This event is 18+.
