An exciting new restaurant, known as Residence, is coming to the Potter Museum of Art in Parkville. Co-founded by Nathen Doyle (Sunhands) and Cameron Earl (Carlton Wine Room), this venue will have a different ‘Chef in Residence’ every year. This chef will be able to bring their vision to life, with full mentorship and a financial stake in the business. They’ve appointed Robbie Noble to be the inaugural Head Chef. Noble will bring his concept Cherrywood to Residence, and feature elegant, produce-led dishes. Cherrywood will open its doors in winter this year, and will seat 60 across its main dining room and the adjoining espresso wine bar.

Cherrywood at Residence
Head Chef Robbie Noble has worked in kitchens around Melbourne, Paris and the UK. After three years at the Michelin-starred Northcote in the UK, Noble moved to Melbourne and worked at Vue Group, recently serving as Senior Sous Chef in Vue de Monde. He also worked at the seafood and oyster bar, Clamato, in Paris.
Noble will draw from his experience in France and England to offer elegant and thoughtful dishes at Cherrywood. Look forward to seasonal produce, and shared dishes like smoked bone marrow and oxtail marmalade on toast; grilled John Dory with tomato butter and tarragon; and poached peach with lemon verbena and rum sponge.
“Cherrywood is cooking that makes room for people,” said Noble. “It’s thoughtful but unfussy, shaped by memory, and always adapting. Residence is the kind of place that lets that sentiment grow — creatively, collaboratively, openly.”
You’ll find this restaurant inside the Potter Museum of Art at the University of Melbourne’s Parkville campus. It will be open from 8am to 4pm on Mondays and Tuesdays, and from 8am to 10pm from Wednesday to Saturday.
