The Piazza in Rialto will soon transform into a glorious sea of yellow daffodils. The space will brighten up with 26, 000 bright blooms, in support of Cancer Council’s flagship fundraising event, Daffodil Day. Take a stroll and admire the spectacular yellow flowers, and show your support by buying some daffodils. Daffodil Day will kick off at Rialto Plaza at 7:30am on Wednesday August 21, and stay until 5:30pm on Thursday August 22.
Daffodil Day at Rialto
The Daffodil Day celebrations at Rialto Piazza have brightened up the lives of office workers and visitors for over six years. Check out the flowers, then show your support by buying a bunch of daffodils. There will also be new neon light installations by artist Carla O-Brien, as well as a tribute tree where you can write messages of hope.
You’re encouraged to take photos and share them online, to raise awareness and invite others to donate. The flowers are free to admire, and daffodil bunches are from $12 per jar or $30 for a bunch of 30 stems. All proceeds will go towards funding life-saving cancer research.
“Cancer Council’s annual Daffodil Day is one that’s very close to our hearts,” said Rialto’s General Manager Sarah Herbert. “With almost 100 Victorians diagnosed with cancer every day, so many people are touched by this disease in one way or another. The more we give, the more lives can be saved.”
If you can’t make it on the day, check out the Cancer Council website to find more ways to donate and get involved.
