Rialto Piazza will soon transform into a glorious sea of yellow daffodils. The space will brighten up with 20, 000 bright blooms, in support of Cancer Council’s flagship fundraising event, Daffodil Day. Take a stroll and admire the spectacular yellow flowers, and show your support by buying some daffodils. Daffodil Day will kick off at Rialto Plaza at 8am on Wednesday August 30, and stay until 3pm on Thursday August 31.
Daffodil Day at Rialto
The Daffodil Day celebrations at Rialto Piazza have brightened up the lives of office workers and visitors for over five years. Check out the flowers, then show your support by buying a bunch of daffodils. The proceeds will go towards funding cancer researchers.
In 2022, Cancer Council raised around $2.5 million from 40,300 fundraisers and donors. Around 101 Victorians are diagnosed with cancer every day this year, an increase from 95 in 2022.
“By giving this Daffodil Day, we can stop cancer from taking so much,” said Lyrian Fleming-Parsley, Cancer Council Victoria’s Head of Fundraising. “Consider giving for all the people who’ve been affected by a cancer diagnosis, whether that’s you, or someone close to you. Giving money, a bunch of daffodils, your time, a hug, giving hope, that’s what Daffodil Day is all about.”
If you’re visiting the Rialto Piazza, you’re encouraged to take photos and share them online, to encourage more people to stop by and donate. The flower display is free to admire, and you can buy daffodils for $10 a jar, or $28 per bunch (30 stems).
If you can’t make it on the day, check out the Cancer Council website to find more ways to donate and get involved.
