The Collins Street Piazza in the Rialto will soon transform into a cheerful sea of yellow flowers. The space will brighten up with over 35,000 bright blooms, in support of Cancer Council’s flagship fundraising event, Daffodil Day. Take a stroll and admire the spectacular yellow flowers, and show your support by buying some daffodils. Daffodil Day will take over Rialto from 7am to 7pm on Wednesday, August 19 and Thursday, August 20.
Daffodil Day at Rialto
Rialto has supported Cancer Council’s Daffodil Day for over a decade. This year, it’s extra special, with Rialto celebrating 40 years since opening, and Daffodil Day marking its 40th anniversary. Check out the flowers, then show your support by purchasing some daffodils to take home. They’re selling a bunch of daffodils in glass bottles for $15, and pins for $10. Every sale will help fund life-saving cancer research and support services.
“We encourage Melburnians to visit the activation, buy a bunch of beautiful daffodils and know that they have been a part of giving hope to Australians affected by cancer,” said Karina Katsipodas, Marketing and Engagements Officer at Rialto.
On top of that, the team behind The Brickman will be there, building a large-scale LEGO daffodil installation. Watch the flower take shape over several days, before its official unveiling on Daffodil Day. You’re welcome to wander over with the whole family and take some photos of the stunning space.
This experience is free to visit, and will run until 7pm on Thursday night, unless sold out prior.
