Ice skating tickets have exhausted for the 2023 Rink season. Limited tickets may be available at the box office subject to capacity. You can still enjoy the magic of the Rink’s riverside precinct which is free to enter and boasts a selection of delicious food and drinks to suit all tastes. There are also free activities for kids including performances on the ice, craft workshops for budding artists, an interactive mirror installation and nightly DJs until 8 July. Footy fans can enjoy $2 off select beverages by showing their AFL ticket on game days.

What to expect
The Rink is an outdoor ice rink situated inside an open-walled big top. Once you strap on your skates, you can enjoy gliding along the riverside under the moonlight as you soak in the festive atmosphere. The twinkling fairy lights and lively music, will provide the perfect cozy haven on a chilly evening in Melbourne.
When you need a break from the ice, you can enjoy some of the fun activities on offer or warm up with a selection of delicious food and drink available at the Food Hall.
The Rink will be open on weekdays from 11am until 8pm and on weekends from 11am until 9pm, and you will be able to skate for up to 90 minutes during your chosen time slot. Tickets start at $20.50 and give you access to the Rink, the Food Hall and all the kid-friendly activities.
Activities on offer
The Rink at RISING’s School Holiday Program presents an array of activities. On the ice, visitors will have the opportunity to witness captivating ice skating demonstrations by professional coaches. This offers visitors a chance to observe the experts in action and gain inspiration to improve their own skating skills.
For those with a passion for creativity, Jenna Lee, the talented artist behind RISING’s 2023 moon design, will offer workshops where participants can create bubbly lunar-scapes using ink, straw, and paper.
Attendees at the Rink will also have the opportunity to engage with the mesmerising giant mirror installations crafted by the Playable Streets team. These installations offer expansive spaces where visitors can unleash their creativity through drawing, writing, and self-reflection.
How to get there
The location for the event is Birrarung Marr, situated on the northern side of the Yarra River, adjacent to Federation Square. It is located a short distance beyond Art Play, close to Deborah Halpern’s iconic ‘Angel’ sculpture. If you are coming from the CBD, you can easily reach the venue by strolling along the Yarra River past the Federation Square. Alternatively, you can access the area from the MCG as well.
To reach the venue, you’ll veer off St Kilda Road onto a scenic river path bordered by elms wrapped in fairy lights. Simply follow the enticing aromas of buttery popcorn, hot chocolate, and mulled wine, and they will lead you to the radiant open-walled big top where The Rink awaits!
