Performing at The Butterfly Club, Sex, Lies & Betrayal – Memoirs of a Hollywood Star has sold out shows across the country—in Brisbane, Sydney and Adelaide—but it’s making its return to The Garden State as part of the Melbourne Fringe. And, it’s on stage from October 17 – 23—the final week of the festival.
The one-woman cabaret featuring popular theatre performer Karla Hillam is the true tell-all story of “Miss Nightingale”—a pseudonym—that details the behind-the-scenes scandals, love affairs, trysts, and tales of loss and loneliness in 1940s Hollywood. On stage, the memoir comes to life in raunchy and riveting detail.
Backed by a lavish jazz score that includes reimagined classics by Cole Porter, Christina Aguilera, Frank Sinatra, Edith Piaf, Amy Winehouse, Billie Eilish, Bobby Darin and more, Karla Hillam has been described as “sizzling-hot” and “every inch a Hollywood goddess”. Audiences, encouraged to dress up in their finest Hollywood glam, will join Miss Nightingale in her boudoir for a voyeuristic journey through her innermost secrets.
With nothing to lose, the femme fatale tells all that she knows including her questionable life choices, star gossip and more from her life of love and loss. You can catch Karla Hillam on stage this week at The Butterfly Club with a cocktail in hand and be transported to 1940s Hollywood complete with saucy adventures, salacious gossip and engrossing stories that only a leading lady has.
