Sunset Safari, the adventurous wildlife experience at Werribee Open Range Zoo, is back for 2026. Hop on a safari bus and witness some of the world’s most majestic animals roam about the savannah at dusk. This year, you’ll also see the herd of nine Asian Elephants wandering around after hours for the first time. Immerse yourself in this stunning natural adventure on Saturdays from January 10 to February 21, from 5:30pm to 9pm.

Sunset Safari at Werribee Open Range Zoo
Journey through the open-range savannah on the safari bus with your friends and family and see some amazing animals bathing in the golden beams of sunset. Look out for herds of giraffes, rhinos, zebras, antelope and more.
After checking out the safari, experience the Waterhole and Elephant trails for the first time at dusk. Venture along the Waterhole Trail, and look out for oryx, zebra, ostrich and nyala. Then, look out for the multi-generational elephant herd as they move around their 21-hectare habitat.

Move and groove along to performances of drums, song and dance, which will bring the rhythm and soul of Africa to life.
You’ll also have access to a range of food and beverage options , such as bistro dining, snacks and cocktails. Take it to the next level by feasting with family and friends in an African-inspired BBQ on Cheetah Lawn.
Sunset Safari helps Zoos Victoria support international partners, including the International Elephant Project (IEP) in Sumatra. This not-for-profit protects elephants in their native environment.
