This winter, Swan Hill will light up with the immersive light and sound show, River Lights. This spectacular evening show will dazzle visitors with light sculptures, laser effects, interactive projections and holograms. It will take over the tourism attraction, Pioneer Settlement, and showcase history, art, community icons and First Nations culture. River Lights will run for just ten nights, from Friday June 28 to Sunday July 7.
River Lights at Swan Hill
Over the winter school holidays, travel along the Murray River and head northwest towards Swan Hill. Located four hours away from Melbourne, you’ll find this regional town nestled against the river, on the border of Victoria and New South Wales.
After exploring the stunning natural surrounds, head to Pioneer Settlement and feel transported back in time. Ride through the town on a horse and cart, watch a blacksmith work the forge, listen to the tune of a pianola and more. Then, when darkness falls, see the stunning River Lights show.
Here’s a little glimpse of what it looked like last year:
“The event not only showcases the beauty of our town but also celebrates our rich heritage and community spirit,” said Swan Hill Rural City Council Mayor Cr Stuart King. “Providing an immersive experience showcasing our rich local history the spectacular event will light up the Little Murray River and dance through the Pioneer Settlement site, transporting attendees through time, mesmerising them with the stories of our past.”
There will be a range of session times available over the ten days, so that families with young children can see it early in the evening.
