Moving images, a soundtrack, and specially-curated aromas will bring Van Gogh’s masterpieces to life.
It’s been a bit of a roller coaster getting The Lume to open in Melbourne. Their Van Gogh exhibit was originally meant to open in Melbourne before Sydney. Then, the exhibition was slated to open on September 1. Of course, lockdown struck once more and this mesmerising display was pushed back once again. Now, The Lume announced that their Van Gogh exhibit will open in Melbourne on November 1.
Van Gogh Alive at The Lume in Melbourne
The Lume is a purpose-built space at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre that is specially designed for incredible digital displays. Their first exhibition, Van Gogh Alive, will breathe new life into his artwork.
Wander through the space as detailed images are projected onto eleven-metre high walls. See Van Gogh’s technique and style in detail and be dazzled by the display of vibrant colours from this masterful painter.
In this 360-degree experience, you will also encounter curated tastes, aromas and soundtracks to heighten your senses. Transcend time and space by stepping inside nineteenth century Paris or the Netherlands. Indulge in delicious flavours at their Café Terrace 1888. And of course, your favourite paintings, like Starry Night and Sunflowers, will make an appearance in this digital art gallery.
Van Gogh Alive has toured to 50 cities around the world and has become the most visited multi-sensory art experience to date. In its wake, it has dispelled the traditional ways of seeing art and enveloped its audience in sight, sound, and smell.
