The Other Art Fair
The Other Art Fair has taken over cities around the world, including London, Los Angeles and Toronto. And now, it’s coming back to Melbourne.
“After a pandemic-enforced break, we can’t wait to be back in Melbourne with a line-up of artists I’m really excited about,” said Fair Director Luke Potkin. “There’s nothing like the energy of The Other Art Fair in full spring – a place where everyone feels comfortable to have fun with art.”
Industry experts have chosen 100 rising stars to exhibit at the fair. Two-thirds of these artists are women, and for 58 percent of these artists, this will be their first time exhibiting at the fair. Have a chat with the artists at this event, and learn more about their creative process and source of inspiration. Then, if anything catches your eye, you’ll be able to buy the artwork straight from the artist.
If you prefer a more permanent type of art, there will be three tattooists on-site, ready to give tattoos on a first-come, first-served basis. These tattoos will start from $150.
If you’d rather go digital, The Other Art Fair is presenting an NFT project, where you can buy your first NFT straight from the artist. This experience is curated by the founders of Oshi, Australia’s first digital and physical home for NFT and Web3 communities.
There’s also a digital scavenger hunt, where you’ll find hidden clues around the fair for your chance to score some prints and an NFT.
Food, drink and more
It’s not just art on offer. Start your weekend right by popping into the fair on Friday night, and enjoy plenty of cool drinks, live DJ sets and installations.
If you’re feeling thirsty during the fair, try an interactive cocktail quiz at Bombay Sapphire’s Stir Creativity Bar. After that, you’ll be matched with an exclusive cocktail created by Black Pearl, Gin Palace, Pearl Driver and Union Electric, four wonderful bars around Melbourne. If you take part in the quiz, you can claim a free gin and tonic from the bar. There will also be plenty of wine, beer and spirits to try.
Then, satisfy your cravings by browsing through a variety of street food and artisan coffee from some of Melbourne’s favourite vendors.
