The Phantom Of The Opera Confirms Dates For 2022

The Phantom of the Opera was originally scheduled to open in Melbourne this November.

Opera Australia has announced finalised dates for the highly-anticipated production of The Phantom of the Opera in 2022. It will now run at the Sydney Opera House from August 19 to October 16 in 2022. Then, it will play at the Arts Centre in Melbourne from October 30 to December 31 next year.

Both seasons were originally scheduled to play this year, but were postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation.

Existing ticket holders will be able to transfer their tickets to the new dates. They will be contacted via email to arrange this transfer.

Regarding the principal cast members, nothing has changed. Josh Piterman will star as the Phantom and Amy Manford will take on the role of Christine Daaé. Meanwhile, celebrated musical theatre star Blake Bowden will play Raoul.

Laurence Connor will be at the helm as director. Meanwhile, Scott Ambler will take on choreography, and Paul Brown will be in charge of set design.

Based on the classic novel Le Fantôme de L’Opéra by Gaston Leroux, the plot revolves around a disfigured musical genius who hides in the Paris Opera House, terrorising all who step into its hallways. He falls madly in love with Christine, a beautiful young soprano and devotes himself to nurturing her musical abilities.

The Phantom of the Opera in Australia is produced by Cameron Mackintosh, The Really Useful Group and Opera Australia.

This musical promises a night you’ll never forget, with a cast of over 65 performers, spectacular stage design and phenomenal special effects.
