Docklands is bracing for a winter makeover, as a new street food and entertainment series rolls onto Harbour Esplanade, promising to keep the waterfront buzzing from June right through to September.
Launching this June, The Street Social will roll out across three themed weekends, transforming Docklands into a lively open-air hub designed to draw crowds back to the area—even in the colder months.
A new winter hangout by the water

Kicking things off is Waterfront Sessions (13th–14th June), a two-day activation packed with some of Melbourne’s favourite food trucks, DJs and a silent disco, alongside live AFL screenings and family-friendly entertainment. Visitors can experience a relaxed, linger-longer setup, with casual seating zones encouraging visitors to settle in by the harbour.
The series is explicitly designed as an accessible, welcoming winter experience, encouraging people to reconnect with the waterfront through food, entertainment and shared experiences—all with free entry for all ages.

The series is part of a broader push to reinvigorate Docklands during winter, a precinct that has long struggled with consistent foot traffic outside major attractions.
Moreover, backed by Development Victoria—the state government agency behind several of Melbourne’s major urban renewal projects—the initiative aims to reposition Docklands as a more connected, sustainable place where people can live, work, play and thrive.
Also, each instalment will bring a different flavour across the season, encouraging audiences to return throughout winter:

Across the activation, multiple entertainment zones keep the energy shifting, with live music and DJ sets driving atmosphere while a silent disco offers a more immersive, headphone-led experience.
