One Melbourne Woolworths has been rated the best in Australia, while another has landed at the bottom of Victoria’s rankings.
New analysis of Google Maps reviews has revealed the best and worst-rated Woolworths supermarkets across Victoria, with familiar Melbourne stores appearing at both ends of the list. But Doncaster shoppers may not be quite so impressed by the results.
Doncaster has Victoria’s lowest-rated Woolies

Woolworths Doncaster is Victoria’s lowest-rated supermarket in the analysis, with an average Google rating of 3.69 stars from 772 reviews. It’s followed by Kyneton and Hampton, both on 3.71 stars, while Barkly Square in Brunswick scores 3.72.

Victoria rates above the national average

The figures come from an analysis of Google Maps listings for Woolworths, Coles and Aldi supermarkets across Australia on 5th October 2026.
The analysis ranked 1,044 open Woolworths stores with at least 200 Google reviews, covering 843,976 reviews in total. Rather than using Google’s rounded scores, it calculated each store’s exact average from its individual star-rating counts.
Victoria’s 252 stores averaged 4.08 stars, making it the third-highest-rated state or territory. South Australia topped the rankings at 4.11, while the ACT came last at 3.87.
Across Australia, Woolworths averaged 4.07 stars, narrowly ahead of Coles at 4.04. Aldi came out on top overall at 4.25.
What makes a Woolies highly rated?

The findings suggests the difference between a highly rated Woolworths and a poorly rated one often comes down to the experience inside the store.
Oliver Weston, who conducted the analysis, says shoppers tend to praise supermarkets that are spacious, easy to access and staffed by helpful employees. “Woolworths sells much the same products at much the same prices right across the country, so the score on Google comes down to the store itself.”
He says the highest-rated stores tend to be “newer and roomier”, with plenty of parking and staff who are happy to help. “Those reviews sit right under the store’s name when someone searches for a Woolies nearby, so a store that gets the basics right is winning shoppers before they’ve even left home.”
It’s a tale of two Melbourne Woolies: Fishermans Bend tops the national rankings, while Doncaster has Victoria’s lowest score.
