The days are getting longer, which means there’s more time to soak in the sunshine and enjoy a picnic in one of Melbourne’s many parks and gardens. While you’re enjoying the sunset and the fresh air, graze on delicious bites from Melbourne’s first evening picnic service, Twilight Picnics. This luxury picnic experience features a curated selection of esteemed producers and hospitality venues from around Melbourne, including Milk the Cow, Sweet Bakes, Mount Zero Olives, Cobb Lane Bakery and more. Pre-orders are available now.
Twilight Picnics
This fabulous picnic company was founded by sisters-in-law Stefanie and Gracie Reilly.
“We wanted to capture the attention of those who value where their food is coming from and package it up in a modern aesthetic that’s perfect for a romantic date or small group catch-up,” said Stefanie.
Menu highlights include a revolving selection of cheese from Milk the Cow, artisanal baguette from Cobb Lane Bakery, gourmet dips from Nahedas Choice at Prahran Market and cake slices with exclusive flavours from Sweet Bakes. There’s three packages for you to choose from.
1. The Gourmet Experience
This comes with everything you need for a fancy picnic, including a Kollab picnic rug, low-rise table, Ela and Earth cooler bag, cutlery, bowls and cheese knives. It also includes a vase of Everbloom flowers. It costs $320 and is suitable for 2 to 6 people on weekends.
2. The Pared Back
This picnic comes in a carry box that doubles as a table with a disposable cheeseboard when you flip it over. It also comes with a mini tablecloth that you can keep. This option is $250, and is suitable for 2 to 6 people.
3. The Mini
The smaller option of the three, this comes with a carry box and mini tablecloth. It costs $160 and is suitable for 2 people.
Both The Gourmet Experience and The Pared Back package come with the same items, like seasonal fruit, gourmet charcuterie, cheese, bread, dip and raspberry vanilla cake. Meanwhile, The Mini comes with a slightly smaller selection. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available. These luxury picnics will have enough food to replace a main meal.
“Our picnics are plentiful for a reason,” said Gracie. “We want people to slow down and truly take in the best of this city — the food, the wine and all the great outdoor spaces we have.”
You can also add items to complete your experience, like caviar, honeycomb, non-alcoholic cocktails from The Everleigh and Doggie Doughnuts from Toby’s Treats. Twilight Picnics are still waiting on their liquor licence, but of course, you’re welcome to BYO.
You can pre-order your picnic for pick-up from Warrung Coffee in South Yarra at 667 Chapel Street, between 5-8pm from Wednesday to Saturday. Or, you can get your picnic delivered within an 8km radius of South Yarra.
