Get ready for the only international museum in the world dedicated to poop! Yes, you read that correctly. Following its incredible success throughout Japan this brand-new poop museum is now open at 360 Bourke Street, Melbourne. The Unko Museum is a concept based around the theme “max unko kawaii,” which translates to “the maximum cuteness of poop”. The experience will be in Melbourne until the end of March 2024, and you can look forward to games, installations, and immersive attractions celebrating the kawaii aesthetic. Tickets are now on sale, make sure to get yours soon!
While “poop” and “cute” are terms we don’t often associate with each other, this museum might change your mind! Based around the kawaii aesthetic, you will step into an adorable pastel-hued universe, where poop becomes a work of art.
The museum’s exhibits are separated into multiple zones that all introduce you to a new brightly coloured poop experience. Chase projected images of flying turds or try your luck at the Crappy Game Corner with retro-inspired games. There are also a variety of poop-themed photo galleries where you can capture fun moments against a backdrop of whimsical, Instagramable settings.
After spending time interacting with the various installations you can end off the experience at the Unko Factory gift shop. Pick out your very own turd to take home as a souvenir, or as an unconventional but memorable gift for friends.
This eccentric museum is the perfect place for both adults and children to tap into their playful side and face the often taboo topic of poop head-on. Learn more about Japanese pop culture, and experience the beauty and diversity of poop at Unko Museum!
