Only two months ago, Victorian Miniature Railway opened their station in Harcourt. Tragically, this town in Central Victoria was affected by the devastating January bushfires. The new tourist attraction closed to members of the public, and temporarily served as a community hub for Harcourt residents. Soon, the Victorian Miniature Railway (VMR) will reopen to the public, starting with a fundraiser on Saturday February 21 and Sunday February 22.
Victorian Miniature Railway fundraiser
Fundraising tickets will be $10 per person for each train ride, with those under 2 and Companion Card holders riding for free. Over the weekend, there will also be a sausage sizzle, run by the Harcourt Lions Club.
50% of the funds raised from the tickets will go towards the VMR and local community projects, to help Harcourt rebuild after the bushfire.
Visit this charming attraction with the family, and trundle along the track with the help of steam and diesel locomotives.
Other members of the miniature railway community, like Altona Miniature Railway, will also be there to help, providing extra trains and carriages for the weekend, and assisting with the donations.
After the fundraiser, the venue will continue back on track, and operate on Sundays as usual from March 1, 11am to 5pm.
If you can’t make it, but you’d still like to show your support, there is a GoFundMe for Harcourt specifically, as well as the 2026 Victorian Bushfire Appeal. For more ideas on how you can help, click here.
