According to Easy Weddings, the average cost of a wedding in Australia is just over $38,000, and if you’re looking to save where you can, Vinnies is bringing their first-ever Wedding Pop-Up to Melbourne. Browse through over 300 new wedding dresses, as well as vintage dresses and pre-loved fashion. It’s an affordable way to help you plan your big day, and every purchase will support Vinnies Victoria, and their programs to help those experiencing homelessness, housing insecurity and financial hardship. The pop-up will take place at The District Docklands from Thursday, August 20 to Sunday, August 23.
Vinnies Wedding Pop-Up
After a massive turn-out in Sydney earlier this year, St Vincent de Paul Society is taking over Melbourne with a warehouse-sale style event. Find over 300 new-with-tags dresses, donated from Sposa Bride. Among the gowns, you’ll find dresses from renowned international designers, as well as dresses from their archive collections. You’ll also find a curated selection of vintage and preloved bridal gowns, as well as shoes, veils and accessories.
“Choosing pre-loved doesn’t mean compromising,” said Liz Randle, Head of Retail and Innovation at Vinnies Victoria. “It means finding something unique, saving money, making a more sustainable choice, and helping people doing it tough at the same time.”
Most dresses will be priced around the $100 mark. Depending on the piece, you could find a dress from $20 to $500. There will be fitting rooms available, so you can try them on before you say yes to the dress. Garment bags will also be available for purchase, with small bags priced at $5, and large ones at $10.
You won’t just find things for the bride! Grooms can browse through the pop-up for suits, and the whole squad can come along in search of bridesmaid dresses. You’ll also find flower girl and page boy outfits, wedding guest attire and décor.
Vendors will also be at the sale, so you can have a chat and get some expert advice. Discover photographers, planners and even a cookie baker. On top of that, shoppers will go in the draw to win a photography voucher valued at $1,000.
